FETLAR STRENGTHENING SCHEME

PWL won the contract to design and install a strengthening scheme on one of the UK's most northerly structures, situated on the remote island of Fetlar in the Shetland Isles. This scheme allowed EE (under the ESN project) to be added to the structure, bringing 4G data services to the island's sixty one permanent inhabitants.

The works involved a mixture of traditional climbing techniques and rope access methods.

We also completed the groundworks for the EE installation whilst on site. 

ESN0048 - OLD MILITARY ROAD

PWL were awarded a number of contracts in 2018 to construct new EE sites under the ESN project, in The Scottish Highlands.

ESN0048 involved the removal of two hundred cubic metres of peat and replacing with appropriate back-fill before the main bulk of the works could commence as well as the construction of a sixty metre access track suitable to HGVs to refuel the permanent generator.

Even though the works were undertaken during the summer the team still regularly faced four seasons in a day, but still delivered a quality build for the client.
